Kauai Painting Revisited-Day 1

© Ellen Blonder
One of my best art teachers in college often stated, "Never think something you've done is so good that you can't do it again," meaning that it was so precious it was beyond improvement. The main tree in this painting has been bugging me since I finished it last year (see post). I thought I was finished, and I didn't have the heart then to paint it out after so many hours working on it. Today, I was finally of a different mood, and I already feel better about it.

  1. this stirs a lot in me about the nature of process...the desire to be finished....to finish...and then to let the seeing anew feeling stage of the process begin again, or take over again is really very interesting. I think of you having painted between leaves that you have now painted over...and I am amazed and looking forward to what you paint again.

  2. It's not often anymore I get to this stage of completion and still have something bother me enough to redo it. We'll both look forward to how this ends, because I'm not sure.
